Why are women better at social media?

I wasn't surprised by the topic of this Mashable article - women are more active on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace. After all, we are FAR better at communicating than our male counterparts (I kid). But I was surprised by the reasons this author gives: social change, identity exploration, and linguistic innovation.
