Making Sure You're Accessing Facebook Securely

There's status updates galore on Facebook with users posting the instructions necessary to ensure that your Facebook connection is secure. Apparently, Facebook's basic account settings don't cover this loophole; who knows why they don't, but they don't.

Below are the instructions for quickly and easily ensuring a secure connection to Facebook.

  1. When logged into Facebook, look at your URL address; if you see "http:" instead of "https:" then you don't have a secure session.
  2. Go to Account|Account Settings|Account Security and click Change.
  3. Check the box labelled "Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) whenever possible.
  4. Click Save.
